Section 04200 Unit Masonry
Concrete Masonry Units:
1.) Standard Units-All hollow and solid load-bearing concrete masonry units shall meet or exceed the regulations set forth by ASTM C90 and be manufactured by The Akron Brick and Block Weight classification: Normal, Medium, Lightweight.
2 and 3.) Split face and Smooth face Terrawall Units-(Split face or Smooth face Terrawall) concrete masonry units shall be manufactured by The Akron Brick and Block, 3225 Mogadore Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, (330) 628-2603. Types of unit(s) shall be (block description i.e. 8R1S1F). Color(s) of unit(s) shall be (i.e. dark burnt umber). All units shall contain the recommended amount of Dry Block? integral water repellent as per specifications by The Akron Brick and Block. A sample panel will be constructed for approval of color, texture, detail, and workmanship prior to construction of walls. Sample panels shall remain intact until completion of masonry work as standard for acceptance. As with all concrete products manufactured with natural materials, some color variation is to be expected and it is recommended that the mason select from three or more cubes as the wall is being laid.
4.) Mortar Materials for Custom Units-Please consult the mortar supplier in your area for recommendations for your specific application.
